Allergies

Paul Simon

“Allergies” was the first single from Simon’s most under-rated album. The song is notable for its early use of synthetic drums (probably Simmons Drums) played by either Steve Gadd (Paul Simon, Steely Dan) or by Steve Ferrone (Average White Band, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers), who is credited with “additional drums” on this track. Also noteworthy is Al DiMeola’s signature guitar, recorded at the height of his fame, which repeats musical motifs throughout the song and is featured developing those motifs for most of the second half of the song.
