King of Rock

King of Rock

Run–DMC

“King Of Rock” was one of the earliest songs to find success combining a live rock performance with rapping – preceded by the group’s earlier single “Rock Box” in 1983, and even earlier by the chart-topping rap-rock song “Rapture” by Blondie in 1981 (featuring Fab 5 Freddy).

Its music video features Bud Melman as a security guard at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame telling the rappers they don’t belong in rock. Years later, Run-DMC were in fact inducted into the RRHOF!
