Over a classic Wheezy produced beat, “Section 8” finds childhood friends Lil Baby and Young Thug celebrating their rise to wealth and fame out of the projects of Atlanta.

Baby and Thugger grew up in Section 8 housing in a very poor, violent part of Atlanta and went to school together. In an interview with GQ, one of Thug’s first managers detailed just how poor he was when he began: “He had nothing… Like a few shirts, a pair of shoes… He didn’t have the gold front teeth yet; his teeth were rotted, discolored. He covered them with his hand when he talked.”

Using lines like “We got them foreigns outside of the ‘partment, Look like a dealership” and “I'ma cop 20 Plain Janes, and I’m passin’ ‘em right around” the two Atlanta rappers juxtapose their humble beginnings with anecdotes of their now opulent lifestyles.
