Bleed for Me

Bleed for Me

Dead Kennedys

“Bleed for Me” (1982) is a hard-hitting song which describes the listeners kidnapping and torture by an unnamed government agent in the name of national security. The song also appears in the background of another Dead Kennedy’s song, “Kinky Sex Makes the World Go ‘Round”.

During early live performances of the song, the bridge contained alternate lyrics which made reference to Rosalynn Carter, First Lady to 39th President of the U.S. Jimmy Carter.

Alternate Lyrics:
When Mrs. Carter comes to town
She comes to check on human rights
But we herd her to our favorite spot
“Pretty please, just smile for the camera”
“Oh, I simply love parades”
Then we send her home again
Now TV is happy
Anytime, anywhere
