“Tryna Be Me” is an unreleased throwaway recorded during production of Playboi Carti’s debut commercial mixtape, Cash Carti (released as Playboi Carti in 2017). The track addresses rappers copying Carti’s style. It features British grime artist Skepta, marking his first collaboration with Carti.

The song was recorded on April 14, 2015, with Skepta and producer Glyn Brown. It was previewed on the same day by Carti’s then-manager, Ian Connor, in an Instagram video post. It was leaked on November 17, 2018.
