“Free Your Mind” was written to be “a plea to humanity to respect each other”. In late 1992, it peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #23 on Billboard’s R&B chart. It also was a top 40 hit in several countries overseas.

The song was nominated for two Grammys: “Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group” and “Best Music Video, Short Form.” And its music video won the awards for “Best R&B Video” and “Best Dance Video” at the 1993 MTV VMAs.
