Tori Kelly’s highly anticipated pop single, “Change Your Mind,” arrives months after she released a successful gospel album, Hiding Place, and over three years after her debut pop album, Unbreakable Smile. “Change Your Mind” is a long-awaited return to the singer-songwriter’s roots in the pop genre.

Kelly’s manager, Scooter Braun, hinted the meaning behind the song in an Instagram comment:

“What happens when you meet a man, fall in love, and your father and family not only disapprove… but say no when he asks for permission.”

Braun’s comment appears relevant to Kelly’s life. She recently wed to André Murillo in May 2018.
