The first single for their debut album Injury Reserve, was chosen as the teaser track to act as a palate cleanser for the new album. Ritchie described this song as to make the fans erase any expectations built from earlier projects, and to welcome the new sounds that will be introduced.

The central theme behind the song is all revolved around critiquing modern fashion, from Instagram models, hip hops infatuation with shoes, stereotypes on standards on how black girls should style their hair, and other stereotypes in general, as well as, subtle critiques on Kanye as a fashion mogul with hints that the song title is a reference to his song “Through The Wire,” where he rapped with a broken jaw.

“Jawbreaker” features Rico Nasty, who has worked with other featured artist, and creative consultant for the Injury Reserve album, Aminé, who collaborated with the trio on his single “Campfire” and with Rico on the song “SUGARPARENTS” from his mixtape ONEPOINTFIVE.

The song also features the lead singer of the underground band Pro Teens on the hook.
