All Alone (No One to Be With)

Slick Rick

This is a song about an unfortunate case that occurs every single day all across the world.

A song about the ills of society, and bad choices.

Similar to Tupac’s “Brenda’s Got a Baby”.

The first half deals with Dawn’s early life, growing up in an impoverished American community.
She spends most of her time on the streets, and meets a manipulative pleasure seeking young man who impregnates her, and shortly after dumps her for another girl.

Despite not having support from the father, Dawn makes the difficult decision to have the baby. Raising a child is tough enough, and Dawn does it alone. As a single mother, Dawn takes struggles with multiple jobs to raise her young baby boy.

Because she spends most of her time working to provide for her family, her son grow’s up with out Dawn’s watchful supervision. So her son, is raised by the vice of the streets, and begins going down the wrong path.

Eventually, the young son is charged for the possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute, and is sent to the penitentiary. Despite this, the Dawn’s love for her troubled son, pushes her to make the long 9hr trip to the prison to visit him.
