HOLOCAUST

HOLOCAUST

Lil Darkie

This song is cold as fuck, but it’s also on fire. It is a long list of gold bars straight from the demon that tapped into Darkie’s soul when he entered the studio. It is also one of Darkie’s most popular songs, which is semi-unfortunate, because it neglects to exemplify some of the best qualities that can be found in the rest of his discography. Nevertheless, this song is insane. There is no melody at all throughout the entire beat, leaving only Darkie’s raw thoughts to be consumed alongside the disgusting bass hits. Darkie is leaving no one out of this roast session, he’s killing everything.

This song was at one point temporarily removed from Spotify, due to the controversial album artwork. It was later restored, but with the artwork omitted. This instance of censorship also coincidentally relates to the intro of Darkie’s other song, “GENOCIDE”:

Bitch, I’m smokin' gas in my chambers like it’s the *********
We’re sorry, your lyric could not be completed because—
Ayy, you Lil Darkie, nigga?
And we want to suppress your opinion fascistically

This case of censorship was not, however, the reason that “GENOCIDE” was written, as “HOLOCAUST” was removed from Spotify in early 2020, while “GENOCIDE” was released in May, 2019.

This same sort of censorship occurred again when Darkie released the single “IMPERFECT”, which was taken down because it originally featured his face with a Swastika–a script Hindus treat as a symbol of good fortune and prosperity–in the background. But this time, Darkie decided to resubmit the artwork using the “Om” symbol instead, and the message “CENSORED FOR SPEAKING OF LOVE.” covering his mouth in the picture:
