Treat Her Like a Prostitute

Slick Rick

In “Treat Her Like A Prostitute,” Slick Rick advises his male listeners to regard their sexual relationships with women as purely transactional, warning that committing to any other approach may leave them emotionally or financially vulnerable. He offers three verses of anecdotal evidence to support his thesis.

In Check the Technique, Rick provided some background on the track:

It was something that me and Doug [E. Fresh] used to do, with [him on] the beatbox. We used to do it live and people used to just snap. The punchlines would always liven up a party. That was the only older song I did for the album. All the rest of them on there was new. That was like real-life experiences, and then making them humorous to a certain degree. I just figured that that was how it goes. It was more my outlook on life at the time. I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful to no good women.
