Wakey-Wakey

NCT 127

“Wakey-Wakey” is the title track of NCT 127’s first Japanese full-length album Awaken. It is described to be an energetic track with trap synths, as it follows the powerful vibe of the group’s first Japanese single “Chain.”

The music video of the song was released on March 18, a month prior to the album’s official release date. It marks the comeback of member Haechan, as he took a break due to a leg injury in late 2018; although Haechan wasn’t able to participate in the choreography because he was still healing, he is seen in the music video sitting in a chair surrounded by his members.

This is the first Japanese comeback in which Winwin does not participate in, because of the indefinite hiatus he took to promote with NCT’s China-based sub-unit WayV.
