“Amaryllis” is about people finding each other in the midst of pandemonium and collectively rising above the troubles they may face.

In this track-by-track breakdown, Brent explains:

Amaryllis is a song about destiny. It’s about 2 people finding each other through all the chaos and the trials and tribulations that we all face every day. I really feel like it’s one of the most beautiful songs that the band has ever written. I think it’s a centerpiece to the record that really shows the side of Shinedown that maybe not everybody is familiar with. An amaryllis is a flower that grows in a part of the world that’s quite desolate, and it only grows at a certain time of the year. It’s the kind of thing that should not be, that rises up through adversity. It makes sure that the world knows its presence. And that’s what the song is really about, it’s about 2 people finding one another and conquering all of the obstacles that they face together.

Drummer Barry Kerch explained his interpretation of the song to Alternative Addiction:

“It’s about the rebirth of this band, Brent’s meaning might differ slightly in that it contains the thoughts about his girlfriend who helped him through a difficult time, but those two things kind of happened at the same time and it really encompasses the band.”
