Kelsey’s Album Blood is about her finding herself in contrast to her religious upbringing. At this point in the album, Kelsey is referencing themes of death, peace, silence, healing, pain, and relief. This may be both in relation to her ancestry (African slaves jumping off of trans-Atlantic ships) and in relation to her personal journey of transformation, pain, acceptance, and strife. Ultimately, the song speaks of acceptance, moving on, and historical tragedy.
