“Apple Tree” finds AURORA being hopeful that we can all save the world together. The track’s sound stands out in her discography as one of her most different tracks, with her vocal delivery during the verses displaying a flow comparable to rap music.

During a Step II listening party and Q&A held on June 13, 2019, AURORA gave insights on the production of the song. She confirmed that the beat of the track was influenced by Brazilian’s Olodum, which she came in contact when she first went to Salvador in 2017. There’s also hip-hop influences because she “felt it deserved a very alive and bad-ass groove”.
