“Elmo Freestyle” is a freestyle recorded and uploaded onto the YouTube channel 912djsupastar in 2011 by Duwap Kaine. Duwap released the song under the alias Dolphin God, when he was in fourth grade. The song is one of Duwap Kaine’s earliest, and was created while he was a member of the OceanGang rap collective.

“Elmo Freestyle” was a relatively unknown track with only 5.9k views on YouTube, up until April 6th, 2019 when Twitter user @wondyful retweeted a post, and captioned it with “why on earth did this lil nigga snap like this,” this and YouTube’s recommended page lead the song to blow up, and left many people still unsure whether it was Duwap Kaine or not.
