“Coast/Clear” marks the second single from the Beast Coast collective, off of their upcoming debut album Escape From New York. Over a production handled by Beast Coast producer Powers Pleasant, the seven emcees deliver bars about having no fear of their opposition and representing the various groups they belong to—Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers and Beast Coast.
The title of the track is echoed numerous times throughout the track, notably in the chorus, executed by Kirk Knight:
Gotta watch my back, make sure the coast clear, yeah
The song was not especially anticipated, as the only promotion for the release was a social media teasing by all the members of the collective just a day before its official release, on the 12th of April.
