A veritable anthem from Babyshambles' debut album Down In Albion, this song is based on a poem written by Peter Doherty at the age of 16, according to Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell.

‘Albion’ is the oldest known name for Britain. Lyrically, Doherty depicts a schizophrenic nation, with a measured façade concealing a much darker national culture.

Characteristically ambiguous, Doherty implores the listener to “come away” towards the end of the song, so he never explicitly states whether the more sinister version of Britain exists already, or is something which the nation is in danger of becoming.
