Greedo’s latest project – and most likely his last, for a while – Still Summer in the Projects – was recorded in a hurry before Greedo had to answer a 20-year prison sentence for meth and firearm possession. The first track, 10 Purple Summers, is some classic 03 storytelling over a bouncy Mustard-produced beat. Greedo’s status as the Otis Redding of Watts is cemented in this track – he paints a picture of a lonely world, with no one to trust – but the summer bop vibes of Mustard’s beat and Greedo’s irresistible croon makes 10 Purple Summers a houseparty staple.
