“Save Me”, along with “Anchor”, were the second and third singles released from Victorious. When teasing the song, John Cooper said on Instragram that this song was “something special [for] the old school fans” of Skillet, specifically referencing Comatose & Collide in an Instagram story on the band’s profile. In it, he describes the song as “a little bit gothic, a little bit dark,” which does match the mood of the aforementioned albums. Guitarist Seth Morrison also posted on Instagram that this was his favorite track on the album.
