“Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg” was the first single released by TLC off their debut album, Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip through LaFace Records. While the song promoted the idea of sexually confident women, it also took the time to promote safe sex – something that would resurface later in their career.

The song would ultimately at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, becoming their first single to reach the top ten on both charts.

Songwriters Dallas Austin and Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes were nominated for the “Best R&B Song Grammy Award” for this single.
