“Afterlife”, described by Benee as a “diss track to the bitch who killed me in my dream” was inspired by a dream she had one night.

The track is structurally different to typical pop track, featuring a bridge before each pre-chorus, another example of Benee’s inclination to “cross genres (and) mix it up.”
