“No Bad Energy,” “Adult Film,” and “Echo” were all created during a 2016 recording session. According to Swizz Beatz, they were made “in one week in LA,” as reported by a 2018 Ambrosia for Heads article. These tracks were subsequently re-purposed for the release of The Lost Tapes 2 and Swizz Beatz' 2018 project, POISON.

In a July 2019 Tidal interview, Nas stated the following regarding “No Bad Energy”:

That was one of the records that me and Swizz was doing for the project we was working on. My boy Clay, my man G-Code, he was like ‘Yo man, I like this one, man.’ and I was like ‘Oh, let’s put that on there.’ I forgot about it. It’s a perfect joint to burn the sage in the room first, right before the album starts, just get the sage out so there’s no bad energy…
