No Matter What

No Matter What

“No Matter What” was a promo single from Paper Trail, T.I’s album about coming to terms with his inevitable court trial on federal weapons charges. The song throws a couple subtle jabs towards Atlanta Rapper Shawty Lo (of D4L) at the height of their minor beef. T.I. responds to Shawty Lo’s attacks with something approaching a minor irritation. Considering he was facing up to 25 years in prison at the time, it is easy to see why T.I. wasn’t concerned with a street beef

The album was due to drop on Sept. 30, 2008; the early leak of this single to and radio DJs, as well as the instantaneous street buzz, compelled Atlantic Records to move the album release up to August 12, where it made its debut at #1 on the billboard chart and was eventually certified double platinum

The track was a top 20 rotation on several rap stations nationwide, as well as a top 20 digital download single on Itunes. In addition, the video was nominated for an MTV video music award in 2008
