“I Really Wish I Hated You” was one of the toughest songs to write for this record according to Mark and Matt. The song went through almost 5 different iterations which made Matt jokingly named it “I Really Wish You Never Wrote That”. The song tells a story of regret, of how someone wants to get back together with someone else but knows he shouldn’t.

The song was originally a really soft song, but in one of those re-writings, the band pushed the pedal to the metal… nevertheless, they didn’t like it either and fell back to a middle ground to a more middle of the road sound.
