Fuck it I love you

Lana Del Rey

“Fuck it I love you” is the fifth single from Lana Del Rey’s sixth studio album Norman Fucking Rockwell!.

This song is a summer anthem that incorporates the frequent gloomy references to the venous system and death. Lana says the words “killing” and “veins” five times each, but also sings the titular chorus line “Fuck it, I love you” 15 times. Although she is exploring the grave subject of mortality, she still manages to keep it light by routinely returning back to love and dreaminess.

Sonically, the track is one of the faster-paced songs from the album, with the beat taking the shape of a high-octave steady-tempo backing track composed mainly by an acoustic guitar, with drums kicking in by the first chorus.

Curiously the single version of the song, “Fuck it I love you” samples drums from the demo of Del Rey’s 2012 track “Lucky Ones.” While the album version is much more laid back in nature and does not include the surf drums, instead, the song features a more subdued drum beat.

On July 26, 2019 Lana took to Twitter to share pictures of herself and an actor behind the scenes of filming for “Fuck it I love you” and “The greatest.” She added that the two songs would be featured as a double music video directed by Rich Lee, with whom Lana collaborated for her previous record Lust for Life.
