“Anchors” is the fifth single released by Rap Songstress Chanel West Coast in 2019.

The song is not the usual Rap we usually hear from Chanel as it takes a darker more gloomy sound.
In the song, she talks about how her life struggles resemble an anchor pulling her down. The song lyrically incorporates the same lyrical meaning as her song “The Middle” which released earlier this year, as it also refers to her struggles.
On an Instagram post, Chanel wrote why she felt like it was time to use a new sound in the song stating:

For those who always ask why I Rap and not sing more….well….I can write raps by myself in my damn sleep lol. I cannot write singing songs as well. At least not melodies that truly show off my vocal range. So I teamed up with @kaydence & she helped me get MY feelings and MY story out by co writing this amazing song with me."

To celebrate the release of her song, Chanel posted an Instagram story showing paint on her nails of anchors and an aesthetic of inspired by the ocean.
