On “Ecstasy,” XXXTENTACION reunites with Noah Cyrus to discuss their longings for their lovers and the pain they have endured in their respective lives.
The song samples XXYYXX’s “Overdone” for the instrumental and female vocals, which were originally done by Anneka, sampled from her popular acapella song, “Shut Her Down.” XXXTENTACION originally released “Ecstasy” in April 2014 on SoundCloud with the Anneka sample, but he deleted it less than a year later.
When X initially released “Ecstasy,” X credited Anneka as a feature and XXYYXX as a collaborator, even though they’d never met. According to a Facebook post by Anneka, the song was repeatedly remixed after first being released in 2011. For the song’s final release, Noah Cyrus sang as the lead female vocalist where Anneka did on the original song, but some of Anneka’s vocals were still kept.
