Kelcey Ayer’s ode to his dearly departed grandfather. The song was written by Ayer in an afternoon and later submitted as a demo to the rest of his bandmates.

The title of Airplanes refers to the fact that Ayer’s grandfather worked as a Boeing engineer in addition to being well traveled as Christian missionary.
