BLOODMONEY

BLOODMONEY

Poppy

Poppy’s former collaborator Titanic Sinclair first revealed the title of “BLOODMONEY” in an interview with SWIM Podcast, in which the interviewer described it as “abrasive” and “glitchy chunks of sound”. Titanic said that the song was made out of frustration and writer’s block, and that his philosophy for the song was to “break [his] Moog synthesizer without touching it”. Titanic considers it his favorite song on the album.

The song is about negative experiences that both Poppy and Titanic have gone through as artists, such as dealing with not only tyranny from higher-ups in the industry, but also hypocrisy and liars. It was first performed on October 10th, 2019, during the first show of the Threesome Tour in Phoenix, Arizona.

In November 2020, the song was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.
