Big Sean’s and Post Malone’s first collaboration is a reflection on the environments the two artists grew up in. Sean draws a parallel between his family and wolves, implying dominance and loyalty to the pack. Big Sean detailed in an October 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly:

[That song is about] my family growing up. Everybody’s in there, my grandma, my mom, my brother — it’s like they were a pack of wolves and they were the sweetest and strongest.

Sean revealed in the same interview that the track originally featured a verse from A$AP Rocky, but the guest appearance was later repurposed for another song on the album.

On September 29, 2019, producing duo Take A Daytrip previewed a snippet of the song via Instagram Live. Post Malone’s involvement in Detroit 2 was later hinted to in the album teaser.
