“Knock-down Drag-out” is thought to be significantly influenced by Green Day. Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo spent several years between the band’s release of Pinkerton and The Green Album studying Green Day’s music, and he may have drawn inspiration from the song “Worry Rock” for “Knock-down Drag-out.” “Worry Rock,” which Weezer covered in 2003, includes the lyric “A knocked down dragged out fight / Fat lips and open wounds / Another wasted night no one will take the fall.”
