“The reason we were staying in the Ylang Ylang room at first was because we were expecting Ayla. She was a surprise and we embraced her. But life decided differently and she left us before she could take a breath in our world. We watched her gain life and we watched her lose it. We created a space for her physical body to leave her mother, a transparent yellow cloth surrounded by trees and candles. We would add rose petals around the space every evening until we reached 100 roses as a way for us to let go and say goodbye. It was a powerful moment, sad and beautiful at the same time”
