Copernicus is a Crater located on the moon which was caused by a lunar impact. It is located on the eastern Oceanus Procellarum of the moon. It was named after the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus who developed heliocentrism during the Renaissance despite the common held belief the Sun orbited the Earth.
