I Miss The Lies, is where the album officially starts to take a darker turn. The song comes after a darker slowed down, warped version of the interlude from Soul/Sunrise, signifying that something unsettling just took place. The song takes place after I finds out about Selene’s dishonest double life, as she cheated on me with a man she called “just a friend.” The song highlights the various things I most about Selene, which ended up actually all being part of a facade that Selene put up to manipulate the me. This song tackles the feeling that many feel right after betrayal, which is the struggle of getting over the attachment to a person, even though you aren’t attached to that person for who they are, rather who they pretended to be. Thus you don’t miss them, you miss the lie. Ignorance is bliss.
