Easy Rider, is a song about the anxieties that come from heartbreak and dysfunctional relationships. The song uses more drug imagery, but this time instead of love being the drug, this song addresses self medicating to deal with the anxieties from the love and heartbreak. The song makes allusions to smoking and driving to deal with the anxiety as a form of escapism but the title “Easy Rider” comes from the strand of marijuana called Easy Rider. The song exhibits the idea that while we may attempt to fill a void in our lives with one drug, ie love, that drug may cause other pain in our lives where we may need to self medicate with another drug. This constant need to dull the pain can lead to other problems and potentially cause another endless cycle.
