Dave (Adam Levine) comes back from Los Angeles and tells Gretta (Keira Knightley) that he recorded a new song over there. He plays this slick pop song for her, hoping to find out what she thinks. She intuits that the song is not about her, and slaps his face. Shortly afterwards, he admits to her that he cheated on her out west and needs to pursue the affair to its end.
