The song’s haunting melody combined with a fast-paced electro beat helps emphasize Ashnikko’s message of being spoiled and quick-tempered. Continuing the themes of her previous EPs Unlikable and Hi, It’s Me, Ashnikko encourages sexual liberation and female empowerment through the lyrics.

Prior to the song’s release, Ashnikko has performed “Tantrum” during several live performances in late 2019, before finally announcing the track and its cover art on February 29, 2020.
