Dim All the Lights

Dim All the Lights

Donna Summer

“Dim All the Lights” was the third single from her Bad Girls album and produced by her longtime collaborators Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte.

The track combines Summer’s trademark disco beats with a more soulful/pop sound. This was the third Hot 100 top two hit from the album and her sixth consecutive Hot 100 top five single. It was nominated a Grammy as Best Female Pop R&B Vocal Performance.

Donna said she originally wrote the song for Rod Stewart but decided to keep it for herself. In “VH1 Presents Live and More,” she sings a few bars in Stewart’s love ballad style, before finishing the song with the more familiar disco beat.
