Ocean Side Suicide (Stylized as “Ocean $ide $uicide”) is an early track by the New Orleans rap duo, $uicideboy$. It is the second single released from the Kill Yourself Part II EP, as well as the seventh overall $uicideboy$ song published.

Falling in line with the rest of this EP, the song is largely horror themed. An ominous piano sample is worked into the instrumental, as well as lyrics containing themes of murder, death, and devil worship. It also samples Live by Yo Rep by Three 6 Mafia, and Smoked Out Loced Out by Prophet Posse.

Scrim appears to be experimenting with different vocal deliveries in this song, with a noticeably different sounding voice as opposed to the rest of material $uicideboy$ released to this point. Ruby makes extensive use of rhyming in his verse, ending most of his lines with a word ending with a long-A (eɪ or ā) sound, (grave, slaves, blade, etc.)

A music video was shot for this song and published on the G*59 Records YouTube channel on August 20th, 2014, a little less than a month after the song’s initial release. A few years later, the boy$ would pay homage to this music video by referencing a negative comment left on it in the music video for “The Nail To The Cross”.

This song is the most popular from the Black Suede EP, and generally considered among fans a staple classic of 2014 $uicideboy$ music. Due to the prominent Memphis hip-hop song samples, as well as the experimental nature of Scrim and Ruby’s delivery, it’s also considered an important step in the development of their overall sound.
