“Ghost,” originally released as a single from debut EP Room 93 was the first song Halsey ever wrote and recorded. Following its success, it then appeared on her debut album, Badlands,

From an interview with Metrolyrics:

“Ghost,” for me, is a song about being in a relationship with someone who is not emotionally invested and then finally making up your mind to leave that situation and decide that you deserve better. And I did.

A music video was released for the Room 93 version of “Ghost” on October 27th, 2014, followed by a revamped version exclusively released on The Fader on June 11th, 2015. The opening Japanese dialogue in the new video roughly translates to:

As I look back at the past together with her, suddenly she starts to disappear. Maybe she never really existed.
