“Love and War” by Kodak Black first surfaced as a one minute CDQ snippet that leaked on a SoundCloud post on December 6, 2019.

In November of 2021, the song would start to gain traction on TikTok because of the lyrics from the chorus, bringing in over 300,000 videos by the time of the release in late 2021.

The popular piano beat was produced by Pompano Puff and J Gramm, two producers who have both worked with Kodak previously. J-Gramm did not previously have his producer tag on the snippet version.

Kodak’s chorus was used on a Shorline Mafia track named “On the Low” in July 2020. Despite the use of the chorus, in December 2021, Kodak unexpectedly released the track using the same lyrics.
