The track title “That Just Isn’t Empirically Possible” is a reference to the all to common trope of those who are outside depression telling those who are depressed to “cheer up” or “look on the bright side”. The song title is referring to the feeling that you know nothing will get better in your life and that it doesn’t matter what you do to stop it, it is just not something that is not possible. This quite obviously is a general nod towards Ruby and Scrims depression and especially serves to reference their continuation of these feelings since their come up.

It is also a quote from the 1990’s movie It, from which they may have taken inspiration for the title of the song:
