Officially the song that started it all, “Heavenbound” was the first popular song by DC Talk, and was originally recorded by TobyMac and Michael Tait before Kevin Max joined the group. The song was later rerecorded and released on their debut self-titled album and received a music video treatment.

Aside from Toby’s missing ad-libs in the chorus, there are only minor differences to the rerecorded version lyric-wise. The biggest difference between the two are the levels of quality of recording and mixing.
