As one of G-Eazy’s most popular songs to date, “Runaround Sue” serves as a play on the tragic love story Dion gave us in his 1961 hit record by the same name. G’s version pays homage to the 60’s and is laced with references to the sample’s context.
In his interview with Bryan Stars on the Warped Tour following the release of this mixtape, G has this to say about the song that means most to him:
It’s called “Runaround Sue,” and it’s about a runaround bitch, who just runs around man. She runs around with my heart. She just fucks me over.
As brought about by Dion, a Runaround Sue is a girl that seems to be loyal and loving to you, but is in reality playing games with lots of guys to get attention and love.
