The music video was inspired by video footage showing extra-judicial killings of Tamil civilians by the Sri Lankan army at the end of the 25+ year civil war. The video stirred up a lot of controversy and was even banned by YouTube.

The artwork for the song shows a screen capture from a video taken off the mobile phone of a Sri Lankan army official.

The original footage showing this and numerous other extra-judicial killings was later released by Channel 4 News in a documentary called “No Fire Zone: The Killing Fields of Sri Lanka.” You can watch the full-length documentary here.
