“Funky Worm” is a funk classic which has been sampled by numerous hip hop artists including NWA, Ice Cube, Kris Kross and De La Soul. It is the group’s first of seven top 40 hits, reaching #15 in May 1973.

It originated from a skit Walter “Junie” Morrison did on stage where he was a foul-mouthed young boy. For “Funky Worm”, the character was changed to be a grandmother instead.
