The first song on Game’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, The R.E.D Album. Released on August 19 in the UK and August 23 in the US, The R.E.D. has gained notoriety in the rap scene.

Although “The City” was not released as a single it has attained popularity among Game fans and on YouTube.

Produced by the excellent team of Cool and Dre, “The City” features Kendrick Lamar, a then-upcoming young rapper who hits the track with an intricate chorus and a bomb fourth verse. This was Lamar’s highest-profile collaboration at the time, but he has also featured on other songs including most recently “I Love Music” with Tech N9ne.

Game states that this song allowed him to show listeners how he “judges himself” and also as a sort of sum up of his previous albums.
