We Made You

We Made You

Eminem

A love/hate letter to pop culture in the style of his 2000 smash hit single, “The Real Slim Shady”, “We Made You” provides comic relief from the serial killer theme of 2009’s Relapse LP.

With the hook, Eminem is showing that popular celebrities aren’t any better than their fans. This gives him a reason to tear their reputations apart: they don’t deserve to be admired too much.

“We Made You” follows “Same Song & Dance” on the album. With this sequence, Em could be implying that the sexual violence of alter-ego Slim Shady on the previous song “fathered” the rap icon that is Eminem.
