Touch Me in the Morning

Diana Ross

According to Michael Masser in a video documentary about Diana Ross, Diana would “always tried to push hard to get the vocals right for this particular song” and called it a “draining experience” which resulted in her having several near emotional breakdowns when she wasn’t up to her abilities.

During an interview with Barbara Walters, Diana’s daughter, actress Tracee Ellis Ross said that Diana would put her kids to bed & record the song all night in order to wake them up and send them to school the next day.

“Touch Me in the Morning” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a week in August 1973 and Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart for a week in July 1973.
